Galena Bible Church began under the vision of Barry & Vicki Arnold, Arctic Mission's Missionaries, who desired to see an evangelical church planted in the village of Galena. Those first gatherings took place in their home in 1981. The church was constituted on January 10th, 1988 and the dedication of the church's building occurred May 21st 1989. Since that time Galena as a community has seen dramatic changes with the departure of the Air Force Base operations in 1998 and those changes dramatically effected Galena Bible Church. Through ups and downs of attendance and spiritual maturity the church continues to serve the community. In November 2010 after nearly three years with no missionary in place, Galena Bible Church called it's first pastor, Chris Kopp, to serve. Since that time the Church has undergone more development with a change of structure as an Elder lead congregation and initially called five men to serve as elders of the church. We continue to pray that God would faithfully use Galena Bible Church to begin more churches in the surrounding communities and bring the Gospel to Galena and beyond.
